Found out about this debut author from a local bookstore (local author) - and I was glad I did! Its a fun read about about a city girl who decides to join the Peace Corps after college graduation. In her PC interview, she happens to meet her dream guy (the recruiter). The book traces her adventure during her Peace Corps stint in South America, coming back home to NYC, and subsequent marriage to her dream man.
After their marriage, John, her husband gets assigned with an aid organization to work in Africa for 2 years. The adventures begin! Eve finds herself armed with a public health degree but no job upon arrival to Africa. There are some interesting stories about her attempts at public health education and HIV/AIDs, and the adventures that occur while living as an expat in a small rural village in a rebel-controlled area (and don't forget contracting malaria while being pregnant!).
Overall a great book that makes you feel like you were there with her - great descriptions and lighthearted writing. I had a lot of fun reading this book and hope that she writes more!
