I really liked this book, even better than Butcher's Dresden, because the "hero", an ex-con with a guilty conscience about causing a lot of deaths while trying to do good, isn't as sensitive as Harry Dresden. He does what he has to do but tries not to hurt innocents. His "boss" Annaliese Powliss is a very interesting character, tough as nails and with a heart of ice. The mystery is well plotted, minor characters fleshed out well, and there are no wasted words. Lots of action, fast moving but thoughtful as well. Highly recommended.
