I haven't read very many sequels to Pride & Prejudice, just this one and a frequently laughable (not in a good way) book that was titled "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife" by an author named Linda Berdoll. Ms. Tennant's PEMBERLEY was much better than that one. Her work seems closer in spirit to Pride & Prejudice - it had a decent plot without gratutious sexual scenes, and, it is quite short - which may not seem to be a bonus, but I think when a writer is attempting a sequel to a very famous piece of literature, it's much safer to be brief than long-winded.

I was a little disappointed that the whole story is told from Elizabeth's POV and we didn't get much insight into what the other characters, especially Darcy, were thinking. If you absolutely MUST read a sequel to Pride & Prejudice, this is not perfect, but all in all, especially in faithfulness to the spirit of Jane Austen's original work, this is OK.
