This is the kind of book that I normally would not be reading unless I needed to. But doing some preliminary research in the field of biomedical engineering was necessary for me, a homeschooling mom with no background in the field of medicine. Why? Well, biomedical engineering is the topic of research for the 2010 FIRST Lego League teams, and because I coach one of these robotics teams, I had to figure out what sort of stuff we're supposed to deal with. This book is very interesting, even for those of us who don't know medical jargon. I am amazed at this field of medicine. It is wonderful, and yes, exciting to read about the direction that this research is going! The author has done a brilliant job communicating the innovation and the research without it being boring.
