Meh... this one was a slog to finish. I was really looking forward to it after reading the first one, and I had to search high and low to obtain a copy (found it through ILL). It was nothing like the first. It was syrupy and repetitive, and I had to push myself to finish it. I really thought at some point it had to get better, but it didn't. Not really. It probably would have been more successful as a novella, since half of the book was just Reese and Trent saying the same things over. And over. And over.
Which brings me to another point. The whole book is based on the fact that the H/h got a divorce because of communication issues. They stay apart for TEN YEARS, and then suddenly- they're so in love that it's like they were never apart. WHAT?? I'd have some major issues with someone if they couldn't figure themselves out in a lot less time than that. Then they just kept telling each other that they had such a great love. It was pretty stupid. If it was so great, then a ten minute conversation could have cleared up their problems before Reese wrote her "Dear John" letter and ran off.
Two stars only because I liked the scenes with the whole family and the ones between Trent and his grandfather.
I wish that this series had continued, because the first book was pretty good, but this installment was a disappointment.
