Monica Mann is surrounded by happily ever after, but so far she hasnt been able to envision that kind of love in her life. So when she breaks it off with her boyfriend because he is way more into her than she is into him, an escape from her current life seems ideal. So she accepts a temporary position with Borderless Nurses to help the people of Jamaica who have been injured and sickened as a result of an earthquake and tsunami that has devastated their Island.

Meeting the barefoot helicopter pilot, Trent, soon after landing in Jamaica, Monica feels the mutual attraction. A little sexual chemistry seems the perfect distraction to two people thrust in the middle of death and destruction. Things go from fun fling to life and death serious in the clink of an eye, and the reality of the situation and its aftermath has them both facing some ugly truths.

I discovered Catherine Bybee with her first book in the Not Quite series, Not Quite Dating. Since that time I have devoured the books that have come after it along with her Weekday Bride books. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors and this latest book in the series is a perfect example of why.

First of all, this book is very different from any other romance I have read. You have two people who are open and honest about not wanting more than a few moments of fun between the sheets. Usually one is reluctant while the other is romantic; these two were scared to death of laying their hearts on the line. Second, the trauma and drama that Monica is elbow deep in not only in the wreckage of Jamaica but the hospital at home in which she works, was so detailed it was like I was a ghost floating around watching things happen. Very real, and once again reaffirmed a fact that I have always known I do not have what it takes to be a nurse!!

I loved that two people found a little beauty and peace in an otherwise horrific time. I love how they confronted, discovered and handled the issues that popped up along the way. I loved their characters together and separate. Every time I close a Catherine Bybee book, Im automatically mad at her that the next one in the series has yet to be written. Im that impatient to see who and what is coming next.
