This is the second book I have read by Alastair Reynolds. I have the same impression of it that I had when I read "House of Suns".
Very well immagined. Anything he writes will be completely different from what you are used to. Also, the worlds are very rich and have a great deal of detail. Along the lines of "Ringworld".
The characters, there are 2 or 3 main characters who are not that engaging, and eveyone else is a "flat" plot device, and you never find anthing meaningful out about the secondary characters.
The ending does not tie anything up. It feels like it just stops, it was the same in House of Suns.
