Blood of the Demon is the 2nd book in the Kara Gillian series by Diana Rowland. In the 1st book, Mark of the Demon, we learn all about Kara who is a Summoner of Demons as well as a homicide detective. We also get to meet federal agent Ryan Kristoff and the demon Lord Rhyzkahl.
In Blood of the Demon, Kara is just back on the job after being on medical leave following her closing of the Symbol Man serial murder case. Kara is once again investigating a series of deaths only this time it appears that the victim's souls have been eaten. As Kara begins her investigation she runs into Agent Kristoff. However, he is not in town to work on the same case as Kara. Instead Kara seems to be somewhat on her own although she does receive some help from the demon Lord Rhyzkahl and Agent Kristoff.
I really enjoy this series, I find it very refreshing and not easy to predict. So far both of the books in this series have been full of surprising twists and turns and endings that I did not figure out until nearly the end. Kara is an amazing character who is easy to relate to, she is sarcastic, insecure and hardworking. Blood of the Demon moves at a wonderful pace with no dragging points. Diana Rowland is fast becoming one of my favorite and must read authors and I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series.
