Having been a fan of Steve Earle's music, I decided to give this book a try. A doctor who has lost his license practicing medicine, now lives in a shady part of San Antonio TX where he performs medical procedures for those in need so he can feed his morphine addiction. Doc is haunted by the ghost of Hank Williams and is eventually "saved" by a beautiful young Mexican illegal named Graciela. This story was a tale of pain but I also found some of it to be quite comical. The art of Earle's writing made it so. It kept my attention and I was pleasantly surprised by this story.
