Jealousy Filled Donuts is the third installment in the Deputy Donut Mystery series featuring widowed ex 911 operator turned donut shop owner, Emily Westhill. Together with her father in law Tom and newly hired assistant Jocelyn, the Deputy Donut shop is gearing up for the Fallingbrook Fourth of July festivities. Emily is going to be driving the Royal court in her vintage 1950 police car which now has a gigantic donut on the top completely with flashing lights. However, the Queen of the festival, Taylor Wishbard not only shows up late, immediately starts sniping at the other members of the court and then refuses to get into the car claiming she must ride in her own convertible.

Later that evening Emily attends the fireworks with her close friends Misty, Samantha, Scott and Hooligan and witnesses a firework go off and kill Queen Taylor. Noticing that the firework was hidden in a stack of donuts she had arranged as a birthday cake for a young boy visiting her shop earlier in the day, Emily knows that the explosion was no accident. With the police naming plenty of suspects including herself, she must work against the wishes of Detective Brent Fyne to track down a killer.

Not only is Emily trying to track down Taylor's killer but she's also trying to figure out why there's a photographer stalking Jocelyn. Something is terribly off about Phillip Landsdowner, and even though she asks Jocelyn repeatedly why the man is following her and trying to take her picture, the young girl is obviously afraid and clams up.

A fast paced plot with likable characters and a vocal tabby.

I received an advanced copy of Jealousy Filled Donuts from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.
