Help Center - What are the differences between the Reminder List and the Wish List?

Search Terms:

There are three main differences between your Wish List and your Reminder List:

(1) The Reminder List has no real limit; the Wish List has a limit

  • (note: if you put *thousands* of books on your Reminder List, you won't be able to open it easily!)

  • the Wish List limit is based on your membership level - 100 for A la Carte, 200 for Limited Membership, and 500 for Standard Membership

(2) Only currently unavailable books can be put on the Wish List,

  • the Reminder List can be used for either available or unavailable books.

  • The reason for this is that the Wish List should consist of only books you are sure you want - and the Reminder List should hold books you are considering for the future.

(3) The Wish List notifies you and the Reminder List does not.

  • The Wish List will notify you when a book on the Wish list becomes available (it even requests it for you, if you have the wish set to auto-request)

  • The Reminder List does not notify you about the books on the list.

In summary: When you put a book on your Wish List, that is considered making an active request for that book. When you add a book to your Reminder List, that is simply a way to remind yourself about the book -- that you may want to order it in future.

Note: to remove a book from your Reminder List, you have to remove it manually. Ordering it won't remove the book from your Reminder List. That is a fourth difference between the Wish List and the Reminder List.

You can find both the Wish List and the Reminder List under "My Account >> Lists"
